About the Project

This website evolved as a result of an Interdisciplinary Assignment combining Health and Mathematics education for Junior/Intermediate (J/I) pre-service teachers at Nipissing University. Utilizing the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) data available on the Statistics Canada (E-STAT) website, all J/ I candidates were asked to prepare a learning activity that met both Health and Mathematics learning expectations from the Ontario curriculum.

Following this exercise, pre-service teachers were asked to share their experiences through questionnaires and focus group sessions. They were also encouraged to use this learning activity as a basis for some of their lessons during subsequent practicum experiences. Research findings will be posted on this site at a later date.

Teachers using this website are encouraged to browse through the slide shows, and use them as a resource for interdisciplinary teaching opportunities in their schools.
